The Rich Culture of Bali

There are several reasons why Bali is among the most visited islands in the world. Aside from being one of the most beautiful beach locations, Bali is also known as one of the islands with rich culture and tradition. This can be seen in the people, the arts and the tourism industry of Bali. Bali is part of the Indonesian archipelago and the island lies just between the islands of Java and Lombok.

Much of the islands in Indonesia are of Muslim but the island of Bali is predominantly Hindu in religion and culture. Much of what is seen in the island in infused with its rich Hindu culture.  From the moment you step on the island you can see small offerings in offices and establishments all over the island. These are known as canang sari. They are made up of small leaf trays and contain small offerings such as flowers, rice and salt.

The culture is most evident in the art found all over the island. Bali is mainly an artisan island, and there are hundreds of painters, sculptors and other artists that are known for their amazing skills. These artists are known for making their product in front of the public so that they can witness the artistic talent and skill it takes to make such wonderful creations.

One of the most visited tourist destinations in the island are the temples found all over. Bali has a rich history and it features among the oldest and grandest temples in the region. There are many tours and guides that can take you to the grandest temples. Some of the temples in the island are more than 300 years old and some of them are still being used for religious purposes.

The rich culture of Bali can also be seen in the festivals and holidays that occur in the island. There are several temples in the island and there are at least two festivals that celebrate each temple. These celebrations, combined with other island-wide festivals make up a festival season that lasts the entire year. In Bali, there are festivals that occur almost every week.

Along with the festivals, Balinese culture is fond of celebrating through song and dance. Almost every night, there are groups and troupes that gather in public and dance and sing about the culture and history of Bali. These song and dance routines are colorful and dramatic and cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.
